The two-mile corridor of Michigan Avenue through Detroit's Corktown neighborhood is slated for a $50 million overhaul that will include dedicated lanes for autonomous vehicles, raised bike lanes and the removal and repurposing of its beloved red brick pavers.The plan to establish the Detroit Mobility and Innovation Corridor, from Campus Martius downtown to the I-96 overpass on the edge of Corktown, will move forward after securing a $25 million Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity federal grant announced Thursday.
